Meeting in Poland

(4.5.2015. – 8.5.2015.) 

 

The meeting in Poland included visits to different places connected with water which aimed at corresponding with the topic of our project ‘Every Last Drop’.

04th May (Monday):

1) Visit to Tarnowskie Góry: visit to the Black Trout Adit
2) Historic waterworks station ‘Zawada’ in Karchowice


05th May (Tuesday)
1) Meeting with the town authorities in the library in Mikołów,
2) Meeting at school:
a) Artistic performance by pupils of the school,
b) Pupils from the school work together with the children visiting Poland on the mascot project,
c) Contest for the best mascot,
d) Teachers hold a discussion summarizing the activities,
e) Language lesson – translations of sayings connected with water into our mother tongues,
f) Visit to the historic church in Paniowy,
g) Concert of the brass orchestra of the ‘Halemba’ coal mine; integration with local community


06th May (Wednesday)
1) Trip to Międzybrodzie: visit to Hydroelectric Power Plant on the Żar mountain,
2) Visit to the castle in Pszcyzna.

 

07th May (Thursday)
1) Trip to Cracow – one of the biggest and most beautiful Polish cities situated on the bank of the Vistula river – the longest Polish river,
2) Farewell dinner at ‘Valdi’ Restaurant – distribution of certificates.
During the visit teachers and pupils had a chance to spend time together during luches and dinners; they integrated and improved their language communication skills.
Apart from that, they also participated in cultural events, getting to know the pupils of the school and local community as well as the region and its traditin better.

The main objectives of the meeting were:
- Enabling the guests to visit different places and monuments connected with water and its use;
- Holding the contest for the best project mascot;
- Discussing the activities of the project, their results and plans for the last meeting in Spain;
- Translationg different sayings connected with water into different languages – language lesson;
- Integration of teachers and pupils, practising and improving their commjunication in English.


The visit to Poland gave teachers and pupils from other countries an opportunity to see how water can be used, to see both historic and contemporary equipment and machinery used to produce energy thanks to this natural resource as well as to provide potable water to the society. They also had a chance to visit Cracow considered to be one of the most charming if not the most charming Polish cities and to have a walk along the longest Polish river – the Vistula.
In the final evaluation all the guests expressed their opinion about the programme, project work, atmosphere, host families, hotel, food, organisation and the weather. They awarded points in the scale 1-6. Most of the participants awarded 6+.

Meeting in Spain

 (1.6.2015. – 5.6.2015.)

 

From the 1st to the 5th of June we held our last meeting of our Comenius Project “Every Last Drop” in Reus.

 

On Sunday, 31st of May, the teachers and students from different Comenius countries
came to Reus. We were all very excited to receive them.

 

On Monday, we welcome the Comenius teachers and students in the school. At 10 we did a Cultural Performance in which teachers, students and authorities were able to enjoy some songs in Catalan and English, they watched some students dancing a Sardana and a performance by the school band. Some year 6 students, with the help of a power point, explained the different activities we would do throughout the week of the meeting. After this, we did a school tour in which the guides were some students. And in the afternoon we did Reus modernist route with our guests and their hosts.

On Tuesday, we spent all day in the Delta del Ebro, as the project is about water we visited the Ecomuseum, we sailed to the mouth of the river and visited the lagoon.

 

On Wednesday morning, we made an Art Exhibition at the hall of the School with all the artworks that the different countries brought; we made the language lesson about riddles related to water; we made a mural to review together all the activities we did in each of the meetings during the last two years and the project coordinator recalled the activities that remain to be done. While we were doing it, the students did experiments about water. In the afternoon, the teachers and students Comenius went to the beach. And in the evening, we celebrated the farewell dinner, in which we delivered certificates of attendance and details to each of our guests.

 

On Thursday, we were in Barcelona all the day. In the morning we went to the Museum of Science, later we visited and had lunch in Park Guell and after this, we made a tourist tour to see the most emblematic places of this city.
 

Finally, we said goodbye to our Comenius partners who came back home the next morning.

 

ART EXHIBITION:
In the different Comenius countries students of different ages made art works related to water. Depending on the age of these students, they could be: paintings, drawings, collages, sculptures…
Later, we celebrated and Art Contest in each one of the schools to choose the best ones. Students and teachers could vote the art works they preferred. And with all the art works that win in each one of the Comenius countries we did an Art Exhibition at the hall of the spanish School during the meeting in Spain.

 

LITERACY CONTEST:

During all the year, in each one of the Comenius countries, we did different writing productions. Depending on the age of the students in each school, they could be: poems, riddles, stories….

All this writings had to talk about the importance of water in our everyday lifes and in all the world, and about the problems we can have if we don’t take care of water, if we don’t use the water wasely.
To choose the best literacy works, each country did a Literacy Contest and the winners in each country were the works we can find in the book: “You never miss water till…”

Meeting in Slovakia 

7.4.2014. – 11.4.2014. Trnava, 

 

Between 07th April and 11th April 2014 our school (ZÁKLADNÁ ŠKOLA) in Trnava, Slovakia organized Comenius Project Meeting. We hosted schools from five countries – Romania, Poland, Croatia, Lithuania and Turkey. Altogether we were pleased to welcome 15 teachers and 22 students. All teachers and older students were accomodated at the Hotel Inka and younger students stayed with host families.

 

The meeting officially started on Sunday 06th, when all the partners were collected from place of their arrivals – Trnava train station. Then they were taken to their hotel and families.

On Monday 07st project partners visited our school, where they were shown a program prepared by our pupils and teachers. They were also shown around the school. Then later on we took the partners to visit the spa town of Piešťany, and we travelled to the town of Galanta, where we visited the aquapark Galandia.

 

The next day – Tuesday – we all were welcomed by the vice-mayor of Trnava in the Town Hall. We could hear a brief history of Trnava and our guests got small presents from the Town. After that we took the partners on a guided visit of Trnava centre. Then we visisted the Red Stone Castle near Trnava.
After visiting the castle we returned to school and each school presented their works. The topic for our works for this meeting was „The Water Day“. Participants could prepare PowerPoint presentations showing their activities during this day. We could watch many interesting works presented also by students present at the meeting.
Then we had dinner at our school canteen and could watch artistic programme of the folk group of our youngest children that were dancing and singing our national songs and dances for our guests.

 

On Wednesday we travelled to our capital city Bratislava. There we took a guided tour around the city and we had some free time for shopping there..

All tasks which were to be done at this meeting were fulfilled. All foreign participants were given a cerification confirming their attendance at the meeting.

 

 

 

Meeting in Germany

8.12.2013. – 14.12.2013

 

The meeting in Lithuania was the 4th meeting, almost the middle of the project.

The evaluation of the tasks done was performed and future tasks were defined.

 

What did we work:

 

- discussions about activities of the project, working in groups

- discussing the glossary of ecological terms

- language lessons

- evaluation of the meeting

- establishing the future tasks of the project

- visiting objectives related to our topic (wastewater treatment works and the only petroleum refinery company in the Baltic states – Orlen Lietuva)

 

What were the main objectives:

 

- getting acquainted with Mazeikiai secondary school, Mazeikiai town and district

- exchanging the ideas about the glossary of ecological terms

- discussing the work since our last meeting

- defining details of future visits

- visiting different cultural and tourist objectives in Lithuania

The meeting in Germany was the second meeting of the project.

 

The main objectives were:

 

- working on the project
- getting to know each other
- showing our German culture and tradition (Christmas market)
- visit to Schwerin

 

We worked on:

- talking about water cycle
- competition about logo
- language lessons

 

We visited:

- watertreatment-plant
- Technical museum

 

 

 

 

 

 

The meeting in Romania was the first meeting of the project and it was a good and necessary way of starting our work.

 

The main objectives were:

- getting acquainted
- visiting objectives related to our topic (hydropower plants, caves, salt mine)
- sharing aspects of civilization and culture
- setting the main activities and sharing the responsibilities
- beginning new friendships among students and teachers

 

We worked on:

- power point presentations of all schools participating in the project
- observing the use of water in different fields by watching the activities made by students and teachers
- language lessons
- evaluation of the meeting via questionnaires

 

 

 

Meeting in Romania

7.10.2013. – 11.10.2013.

 

 

The meeting in Portugal included moments of preparation of the project and visits to different places connected with water according to the topic of our project 'Every Last Drop'.

 

12th October (Sunday)

Day of arrivals of the different partners

 

13th October (Monday)

On the first day of our meeting we were at school. We started with a guided visit to our school, than there was a short cultural performance, in which our students showed their talents. After that, there was time to work on the project issues in general and specifically we had to work on the task that was of our responsibility - the skype conference. There was still time for our usual language lesson before lunch at school.

In the afternoon we visited the castle of Leiria and had an appointment at the city hall.

 

14th October (Tuesday) 

The following days were dedicated to show our guests some places where water is the main attraction. First we travelled to Nazaré, a beautiful beach, famous for the highest waves. After a tasteful lunch just at the sea, we started our visit to the medieval city called Óbidos. There, the water supply was done through the aqueduct that we could admire. In the evening we had dinner at a place called Salinas de Rio Maior, where salt is extracted from the sea water that emerges there.

 

15th October (Wednesday) 

On the third day of our meeting we went to Fátima, a very famous pilgrim place in our country.

There, the contact was with holy water! After lunch at school we had another contact with water: hydrotherapy in a Spa in Monte Real.

Besides the relaxing hydrotherapy there was also a water game in the park.

The evening was dedicated to our farewell dinner.

 

16th October (Thursday) 

On Thursday we all went to a visit to our capital city: Lisbon. We made a guided tour to the city, by bus and on foot. At the end of the day, almost all guests stayed in Lisbon to make the trip to the airport easier. Poland was the only exception and came back to Leiria with us.

 

17th October (Friday) 

Friday was the day of departure of the international teams.

 

We had a great time working with our partners and also showing our country and our culture. We made friendship stronger and became “richer” human beings.

 

 

The main objectives of the meeting:

 

- discuss activities of the project
- plan the following activities
- share information about the Portuguese school system
- cultural enrichment
- improvement of the English language
- contact with different languages

Conclusions:


We had a great time working with our partners and also showing our county and our culture.
We made friendships stronger and became richer human beings.
